LSA supplied over 550m2 of Gustafs Linear Ribs in natural Oak veneer to the acoustic ceilings at Shakespeare North Playhouse in Prescot near Liverpool. The acoustic rib installation can be found in the public concourse areas of the newly opened theatre facility.
Shakespeare North is home to the only 17th Century style cockpit theatre outside of London, the unique theatre style has multiple stage and seating configurations including a roman style frons scenae and in-the-round format with a central stage. In addition to the core auditorium the facility houses an exhibition gallery, education and seminar spaces, an outdoor performance garden, and a café bar and gift shop.
The theatre recently won an award for Project of the Year at the North West Construction Awards. Knowsley Council, along with the architects and contractors involved were commended for the project management of the scheme as well as the focus on best-in-class design as well as the overall social value and local economic impact of the development.
