In 2020 and 2021, LSA had the pleasure of working with the designers at Dunning and Everard on the interiors at Exton Hall events space at the award-winning vineyard in Hampshire.
Exton Hall was designed and built to host private and corporate events and wine tasting at the vineyard across the 6 internal venues and courtyards.
Externally, the architectural design of the hall is inspired by cathedrals with floor to ceiling windows spanning the three levels of the building. The light brickwork and terracotta roof are sympathetic to the surrounding environment; evoking traditional rural stone construction, and the extensive glazing with black metalwork gives an elegant and contemporary twist.
Internally the client and designers at Dunning and Everard wanted to create a dramatic modern space that also celebrated the landscape with views of the 60 acre vineyard and Meon Valley.
The materials used were carefully selected for their sustainability and ability to deliver the exquisite craftmanship outlined by the design team. In addition to the natural timber elements supplied by LSA, other internal architectural features include bespoke vaulted brickwork to the tasting room, leather panelled wall sections, textured limewash walls in the Great Hall as well as the dramatic curved staircase spanning all three levels of the building.
The attention to detail throughout the space is unmatched with every piece curated to reflect the modern and luxurious ethos of the brand; reflecting the sustainability goals they achieve for their wine. Most of the furniture and decorative pieces at Exton Hall were commissioned especially for the space from British makers such as Halstock and Owl Lighting; ensuring exceptional quality and attention to detail for design elements which will stand the test of time.
Gustafs Linear Rib system was specified for the pitched ceilings in the Great Hall at Exton Park; with more than 200m2 of ceiling space spanning the atrium and mezzanine areas. When the architects and designers were planning the central space, incorporating acoustic control was a key factor when considering the wall and ceiling finishes.
The rib system used at Exton Park was installed with 24% open area between the ribs giving Class C acoustic performance when combined with the acoustic mineral wool layer fitted behind the ceiling system.
Interior designers at Dunning and Everard commissioned the ribs to be finished in Natural Walnut veneer to compliment other warm tones in the space. Walnut veneer has rich colour tone as well as a distinctive grain structure.
Sustainable timber sourcing is a priority for both LSA and Gustafs; we both hold FSC chain of custody certification for qualifying timber sales as well ensuring materials sourced outside of this program meet our responsible sourcing expectations.
All products designed and manufactured by Gustafs have undergone rigorous accredited testing for their fire resistance. Gustafs Linear Rib system achieves Euroclass B,s1-d0 for resistance to fire, with little to no spread of flames, smoke production, or flaming droplets.
Tests for Gustafs products include the relevant proprietary Capax mounting systems as well as any recommended linings including the acoustic mineral wool. This exceeds minimum testing requirements for similar cladding products by testing the fully mounted system rather than individual parts.
As of May 2024 all products from Gustafs, including the core Rib and Panel systems have an available accredited EPD outlining the environmental performance and impact of each product range through their lifetime from manufacturing to end of use, recycling, and disposal. Gustafs also hold full BREEAM compliant emissions tests for all products.
