A futuristic delight with bold colours and clean minimalist lines, the newly renovated Hauptmensa refectory at LMU in Munich serves over 50,000 students and staff across the university’s 18 faculties.
Polylam and Dur-Sonic baffles in white, red, and yellow were used on the ceiling in the refectory, providing sound absorption in the open space to offset the exposed concrete details and glass walls. Custom lighting housing was desgined and built to work with the baffle system, Tangenta LED strip lights sit inside the deep ‘U’ shaped channels.
In addition to the Polylam ceiling in the dining hall, 1000m2 of Starlam ceilings were installed throughout the refectory facility. Panels were used for ceilings both inside and outside of the building and co-ordinating Punteo spotlights were also installed.
