Queens University Belfast Student Centre
Architect: RPP and Hawkins Brown
Installer: Convery Ceilings
Products: Oranit, Gustafs Panel System and Gustafs Linear System
Installation works are well underway on site at One Elmwood Student Centre at Queens University in Belfast Ireland.
LSA are proud to have supplied over 400m2 of both Gustafs acoustic wall and ceiling panels and Gustafs linear ribs to the new Students’ Union building. The Gustafs Panel System and Linear rib system were specified in natural Walnut veneer for the rich colour tone and unique wood grain structure.
As well as the Gustafs classing, more than 1600m2 of Oranit ceiling panels are being installed throughout the campus, the panels are made from PEFC certified yellow pine stained to match the Walnut finishes elsewhere in the project.
Gustafs ribs at 28mm deep and in a mix of 38mm and 88mm widths were used for the balustrade areas in the core atrium of the building; ribs were installed with 20mm gaps for improved open area and acoustic control.
The acoustic wall and ceiling panels in the multipurpose hall are installed in a ring around the auditorium space allowing full access to stage lighting, rigging, and ventilation across the majority of the space.
