Close to 150m2 of linear ribs in rich, brown, natural Mahogany veneer were installed to the lift and stair cores at the main atrium of the new state-of-the-art extension to the existing management building.
Austin-Smith:Lord Architects specified linear ribs at 38mm, 60mm, and 90mm widths with regular 20mm gaps in an 8 rib repeating pattern for a creative and textured appearance. The ribs are placed in the pavilion of the campus, linking the old and new buildings with a double height ‘glass box’ atrium.
The sustainably designed and built extension makes space for up to 450 new students with social and collaborative learning spaces including a lecture theatre debate ‘case pit’ and a cafe area with an abundance of informal workspaces.
